Description

Play as an entrepreneur in RPG battle to help others with your social buisness! Convince people to buy your shirts, and every sale will help one person with it’s profits! Persuade businesses to partner with you, and impress others with your portfolio!

Thoughts

Back when I was in college, I participated in almost every game jam I could. This one was a sponsored jam, and was called the “Social Business / Entrepreneurship Game Jam”. I gathered some artists and an audio guy, and had the goal of making an RPG.

In the game you play as an entrepreneur, and engage in turn-based combat, where you have to sell shirts where the money goes to help people in need, persuade businesses to partner with you, and impress others with your portfolio! I don’t think what we made was exactly what they had in mind, but we had fun making it.

This was the first and only RPG I worked on. I love playing them, but making a full one requires a lot of writing, a lot of balancing, and they’re generally pretty large in scope. A couple fun facts about this game: I use the battle song as my alarm to wake up, and I used the FF7 UI move sound for moving your cursor in battle.

Our team was the only one that ended up participating. But you know what sponsored jams mean? Tons of free pizza! So the lesson here is that even if no one shows up to a game jam, you should still do it, cause you’ll make something cool, and there might be free pizza!
