Description

Play as a shopkeeper and buy items from adventurers passing through! Try to haggle and make “equal-ish exchanges”.

4 customers will come through the door before the final results are tallied. Did you make good deals? Did you go bankrupt? Anything can happen at a shopkeeper’s shop!

Thoughts

Equal-ish was made for the 48th GM48. This was the first time anyone on our jam team had done the GM48. I had heard about it from other devs, and love using GameMaker, so a jam for just GameMaker games sounded great. They also made a big deal out of this one with a big prize since it was the 48th one. The theme was “Equivalent Exchange”, which took a bit to figure out how to make a game with it. We decided to take the them literally: a bartering game where you try to haggle with people bringing random stuff into your shop. With over 100 games submitted, we ranked 6th place!
